Peace Day

How do you define Peace?

Posted on a website that is attractive, peace is neither the absence of war, nor the opposite of war. To define peace as the absence of war is to reduce it to a passive conception, incomplete and remote. The field of peace is much vaster, because the field of violence is much vaster than that of war. Nor is peace the absence of violence it is in fact the opposite of violence.

Peace is a strong and enduring relationship of living well together, based on respect, serenity, cordiality and good intelligence between humans. It is built as much on heartfelt emotion as on reasoning. It is by virtue of human warmth that we can transcend violence.
Peace implies activity, not passivity.  t is a commitment that is put into practice everyday in all of our interactions.  To be a passive bystander in the face of violent interactions kills peace. To remain passive sends out the wrong signal. It authorizes violent people to increase the level of violence. It is only by having the majority create a counterbalance, where peace is at the forefront in human interactions, that we can provoke a calling into question of “violent people” and awaken them to the good that is inside of each of them.  By remaining passive, we disassociate ourselves from this counterbalancing effort and we side with the violence of others - even if we are the gentlest of beings.

It is essential to know that to be a happy person, a happy family, a happy society, it is very crucial to have a good heart, World peace must develop from inner peace. Peace is not just the absence of violence but the manifestation of human compassion.
Dalai Lama XIV (Buddhism)

From the quotes above, we can conclude that the most important things in life are how to be a happy person, a happy family, a happy society, but we also have to have a good heart.Peace is a perpetual weaving of warm-hearted relationships between those living side-by-side, based on human values and individual creativity in order to overcome difficulties, clashes and one’s own frustrations. Peace defines the manifestation of human compassion that comes from inner peace.

How to be a Good Leader?

Not everyone can be a leader, because there are differences between a leader and a boss. Acting “Like a Boss” may not be the best way to get respect from your employees or staffs. A strong leader aim to shift workplace culture.

Team members must know the’re going somewhere. A strong leader assigns tasks that show a clear vision for the future, and provides team members the necessary assurance they’re actually working toward something.

Team members aren’t pushed, they’re led. Confidence and faith in a leader has the potential to boost morale, and provide employees with the motivation to contribute to company or team culture.

Leaders invest back into the team. By keeping the team’s best interests in mind, a positive and powerful future can more easily be secured.

According to Researchers David Bowers and Stanley Seashore, there are Four Factor Theory of Leadership, as follow :
  1. Providing Personal Support – Helping people value themselves and their work, so that they can develop a sense of self-worth.
  2. Encouraging Teamwork ("Interaction Facilitation") – Encouraging people to establish close, collaborative, successful working relationships with one another.
  3. Focusing on Goals ("Goal Emphasis") – Inspiring people to feel enthusiastic about and committed to shared goals, and motivating them to want to perform well.
  4. Helping People Work Effectively ("Work Facilitation") – Helping people meet goals by supporting them, and by providing resources, materials, or knowledge.

As a leader, you have to :
  • show your people that you value the work they do.
  • say "thank you" when people have done a job well.

There are plenty of ways to motivate your team without bonuses. All of this will inspire the entire team to work toward a common goal. And you have to work hard with your teamwork to be success. Because, remember the quote “There is no elevator to become success, you have to take the stairs”.

Interview : Full-Time Father

"Dads are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, singers of songs." - Pam Brown

Father... It only has 5 syllables but worth thousand words. He is the one who is able to keep me safe. He always taught me how to survive in life obstacle. His name is Sugih Arto, he was born on 6th of September 1971 in Tasikmalaya and he works as a business man. He is a humble and responsible person, he is also blended with the society so he became a neighbourhood coordinator. He is my motivator, so I decided to interview him during the trip to Lembang on Saturday, 6th of June 2015.

M : "Dad, can I ask something?"
F : "Anytime cha..."
M : "How to always be able to survive through the obstacles in adolescence"
F : "I have also been going through a adolescence just like you, when I was being a teenager I was less able to understand myself because I think adolescence is a period of transition of adulthood"
M : "Although, can I change my mindset and try to be more mature?"
F : "Okay, all of the problems back to yourselves and the way you hold your own problems that will make you more mature"
M : "Oh.... I got it, I think it is the right time for me to set up my life to be better and it will make me becoming more mature"
F : "You have been trying to be better, cha.....but you have to remember"
M : "Remember something that knocked me down?"
F : "Nope, but you have to remember that all of your effort won't be worth without a prayer. Because perhaps you hate a thing and it's good for you, and perhaps you love a thing and it's bad for you. And Allah knows while you're not"
M : "I agree, I think that is the most important thing because the path a person takes can only be seen clearly after the destination has been reached and Allah can show you the destination is.
F : "Yes, so don't worry if you're not sure where you're headed or what your long term goals are, stay true to yourself and it will make sense in the end and remember Allah always hear and help you to reach something that you want"
M : "I will always remember:) Thank you Dad for your advice"

CAMPRT!

CAMPRT (Camping Pramuka Tiga) is kind of like school activity which is held by boy/girl scout at SMAN 3 Bandung. It is one of many school activities that can improve our skills in team work, independent, leadership, etc. This event was hold on 9th of May 2015. All of students gathered at SMAN 3 Bandung at 7 a.m. and we were facilitated to use Angkot as transportation. We traveled for an hour and we were having fun together during the trip. We arrived at 8 a.m. and we were greeted with the sounds of animals, that was my kind of welcome! Firstly, we through the forest with a variety of rise and fall. The ground was kind of like slippery so we had to watch our step. Touched down! When we got on location, we made a row and choose the leader per group and i was the leader of group 20.

Aldita-Ivy-Felia-Me

Then we were given the time to make tents for approximately 90 minutes. Honestly, i didn't have any idea to build a tent but many seniors taught me to build it. I guess i felt a little bad about the whole process of building a tent but I'm about to survive with making a knot which is one of the scouts learning materials. Besides, i had a lot of fun with my friends during making some lunch. I decided to start making some foods but it wasn't going well, so I decided to eat 'Abon Sapi'. At night, we gathered for a bonfire and all of the class should perform their class performance, so we spent at least an hour down there trying on that thing. We chose to start practising accapella and cover the song and the song was quite popular, it was "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars. Meanwhile, preparations that have been made were not worth it because the Acceleration was separated into two, those were Aqua Gelas (XI Akselerasi 2) and Ksatria Hiram (XI Akselerasi 1). Besides, all of the acceleration students had practising, so we decided to choose some familiar songs and it was still cool tho'. After the quality time, all of students went back to the tent and have some turn to keep the tent safe but it was not effective enough because most of us feeling tired. Luckily, Pak Ahyar secretly keeping my tent safe and tell me in the next day.

The next day, I was woken up by the cold temperature at 5 a.m. and honestly I couldn't sleep any longer because I didn't bring my sleeping bag and it was way much colder than usual, it felt like I had a hypothermia. I finally tried to take a wudhu and the toilet wasn't appropriate enough. Then, i had to make some breakfast in the morning and spend to eat it in the afternoon. In the afternoon, there was a kind game and it was' going well because it was rain and it became a rainy day. We walked through the forest passing the slippery ground. After the games finished, we all packed our luggage and set off the tent, then we went to SMAN 3 Bandung by using Angkot.

It enjoyed this event so much and exciting for another events, I hope we all can take the benefits of participating this event.

Gotta Love The City Park

Bandung has changed recently because of our major, Ridwan Kamil. He gives a lot of impact and always holds Bandung which is known for it’s culture and it’s clean environment. One of his effort is constructing some well-facilitated public park and other entertainments places. His work program is considered as a good planning and valued as a effective way because his persuading way is really attracting. In addition, his effort in improving Bandung’s facilities is fully encouraged by the Bandung’s people.

Bandung has a city park which is located on Jalan Asia Africa, it is a trend among residents and surrounding communities. In addition to becoming as open space parks, the city park also became one of the attractions of Bandung travel destinations since it was established in late December 2014 by the major of Bandung. When you visit the city park, there are other locations which can also be used as tourist attractions such as the Grand Mosque itself, Bandung Post Office which is the head office of the Postal Service Bandung and still standing strong with his age who has reached 81 years, Braga Bandung, etc. The City Square allows you to see the sights of people milling around and selling are usually thronged the area. They never stopped and never tired of offering merchandise at fairly affordable price. Guaranteed goods offered are in accordance with the contents of your wallet and not burdensome.

If you are hungry, then you just go and choose a variety of desired menu. Ranging from light snacks like meatballs, dumplings, ice dawet, etc. So it's crowded when the afternoons, school holidays, and public holidays. Its strategic location is certainly very feasible for your visit. In there we will find a green playground with synthetic grass with checkered pattern design with a background of the Great Mosque of Bandung. At this location, people can do various activities such as take a photo, reading a book or recreation with family and friends.

If we look, in the south of City Park we will find a Hall of Bandung. As for the existing buildings on the west side of the building there is a Mosque. However, there is a building located in area, which are often forgotten or even rarely known by young people and even the domestic and foreign tourists.

Luckily, we are facilitated by the major to use the public transportation, such as bus, Bandros (Bandung Tour on The Bus), angkot, etc. I am proud having such major who is known as a persistence and responsible person, his effort in improving Bandung's facilities is fully encouraged by the Bandung's people #nuhunkangemil

More Than Words

Saying "I love you"
Is not the words
I want to hear from you
It's not that I want you
Not to say
But if you only knew

How easy
It would be to
Show me how you feel
More than words
Is all you have to do
To make it real
Then you wouldn't
Have to say
That you love me
Cause I'd already know

What would you do?
If my heart
Was torn in two
More than words
To show you feel
That your love
For me is real
What would you say
If I took
Those words away
Then you couldn't
Make things new,
Just by saying
"I love you"
More than words,
More than words

Now that I've tried to
Talk to you
And make you understand
All you have to do
Is close your eyes
And just reach out your hands

And touch me
Hold me close
Don't ever let me go
More than words
Is all I ever
Needed you to show
Then you wouldn't
Have to say
That you love me
Cause I'd already know

What would you do if my heart was torn in two
More than words to show you feel
That your love for me is real
What would you say if I took those words away
Then you couldn't make things new
Just by saying I love you

La di da, da di da, di dai dai da
More than words

La di da, da di da, di dai dai da
More than words

La di dai, dai dai, di dai dai da
La la di da da da

La di dai dai da
La la da da
More than words

Oooh uuuuh uuuh
Uuh

This is about a guy who loves a girl and knows she loves him too,
but wants her to show it by more than just saying "I love you."
He's saying that if she would show him more affection and
emotion she wouldn't have to say she loves him because he would already know.

Lenticular Clouds look like UFOs

Lenticular clouds (Altocumulus lenticularis) are stationary lens-shaped clouds that form in the troposphere, normally in perpendicular alignment to the wind direction. Lenticular clouds can be separated intoaltocumulus standing lenticularis (ACSL), stratocumulus standing lenticular (SCSL), and cirrocumulus standing lenticular (CCSL). Because of their shape, they have been offered as an explanation for some Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) sightings.

Mount Fujiyama, Japan

How Lenticular Clouds are formed?
As air flows along the surface of the Earth, it encounters obstructions. These are man-made objects, such as buildings and bridges, and natural features, like hills, valleys, and mountains. All of them disrupt the flow of air into eddies. The strength of the eddies depends on the size of the object and the speed of the wind. It results in turbulence classified as ‘mechanical’ because it is formed through the “mechanical disruption of the ambient wind flow”. Where stable moist air flows over a mountain or a range of mountains, a series of large-scale standing waves may form on the downwind side. If the temperature at the crest of the wave drops to the dew point, moisture in the air may condense to form lenticular clouds. As the moist air moves back down into the trough of the wave, the cloud may evaporate back into vapor. Under certain conditions, long strings of lenticular clouds can form near the crest of each successive wave, creating a formation known as a "wave cloud." The wave systems cause large vertical air movement, enough that water vapor may condense to produce precipitation. The clouds have been mistaken for UFOs (or "visual cover" for UFOs), particularly the round "flying saucer"-type, because these clouds have a characteristic lens appearance and smooth saucer-like shape; also, because lenticular clouds generally do not form over low-lying or flat terrain, many people have never seen one and are not aware clouds with that shape can exist. Bright colors (called irisation) are sometimes seen along the edge of lenticular clouds. These clouds have also been known to form in cases where a mountain does not exist, but rather as the result of shear winds created by a front.

Wanderlust (1)

I’m going to write this thing because my holiday was absolutely great! The reason my holiday wasn’t kind of lame was because I spent my first day of holiday in Pulau Umang with my parents and my little sister. Actually I went there four days before the holiday lasts, so yep I didn’t participate during the Nagabonar event. Besides, I’m  100% to blame for dreaming up this idea to go to Pulau Umang because I thought my dad was pretty much busy these days, but guess what my dad was constantly saying  “Cha, let’s go somewhere, we need a short holiday” and I was like “YEAAAY”. Luckily, I was prepared for this kind of thing and my parents booked for 2 days and 1 night in Pulau Umang. I started  my journey as a wanderer on 20th of December 2014 even though it took 7 hours to get there.

I woke up at 04.00 and all my package packed, on the car ride to Pulau Umang we got stuck because it had no gps signal but I’m actually kind of relieved because I passed the alternative way and I’m just glad it finally turned up. Touchdown! After a tiring journey we finally arrived, I kept the car at a checkpoint and it took 10 minutes from check point to Pulau Umang by using a small boat. Arriving there, I was greeted warmly with stunning views, but there was only one lodging for visitors whereas many visitors.

A lot of activities there, which I drove a jet ski and I’ve been 80% honest the whole time and believe it or not, it’s not that hard. After seeing what’s going on in Pulau Umang, I was kind of starting to wonder why I didn’t try another activity. I asked my parents to go snorkling so we had to book first and it was so much fun!

While snorkeling, my mom just took a photo of me, my dad, and my sister because my mom didn’t enjoy it , I figured my mother would eventually get bored and just go home, but she stuck around and right when I thought she was finally gonna leave, mom said that she wanted to join so it actually turned out to be pretty fun, mostly because I could see all sorts of fish you could never see in real life.

To be continued...
